How can I help?
As a therapist I provide a relaxed, warm and focused space, where you can talk in confidence and have the opportunity to be heard and supported.
Evidence shows that one of the most important factors in successful therapy is the quality of the relationship between the client and therapist. For this reason, I offer a free initial consultation, which is a chance for us to meet, with no obligations on either side. It’s a chance for you to ask any questions you might have, and to talk about what it is that is bringing you to therapy.
Reasons you may be seeking support
It could be for one of more of the following reasons:
- feelings of anxiety, stress and/or depression
- issues around relationships
- to reduce dependence on friends or family for emotional support
- anger, sadness, grief
- life changes or life choices
- low self-esteem
- lack of meaning in life
Sometimes it feels difficult to name a problem other than a deeply felt sense of unease. Or that life is not the way you would like it to be right now.
The first stage of working together is to build trust. Together we can explore how your life would look if therapy were to be successful. This gives direction to our work.
The pace of the work is different for everyone, and I draw on different approaches and understanding to best support your particular needs. As the process unfolds, clarity can emerge around issues which felt stuck. We can see how your discoveries in therapy are being applied in your life. The journey can be challenging at times, but it may become possible for you to treat yourself with more kindness and understanding. The intention is to be able to move forward with greater trust and confidence in oneself .
I am committed to my work with clients. I have experienced for myself the healing possible as a result of finding the right psychotherapist or counsellor. This is true whether you want some short-term counselling support with a particular issue or crisis; or whether you are open to longer term work which can address the deeper roots of difficulties in our lives.
To read more about how I work please see Core Process Psychotherapy .
Sessions are held weekly on the same day and at the same time. It is usual to review how therapy is working after 6 weeks and from here to continue on a weekly basis whilst it is helpful to do so. It is your choice as to how long you stay in therapy and this depends on the nature of the issues you wish to explore.

Psychotherapy or Counselling?
Psychotherapy differs from Counselling in that it tends to happen over the longer term. A counsellor can help you see to yourself and your problems more realistically and to manage those problems better. Psychotherapy offers the longer-term prospect of finding meaning, healing and transformation.
